SEF’s Basic Health and Preventive Medicine Unit has been rendering its services within the structure of the foundation since the year 2005. The responsibility of the unit, the only operating unit in North Cyprus, has been conducted by a Child Pediatrician.

Duties of this unit are briefly enumerated as follows:

1. To carry out the medical examinations of the individuals who are sent to SEF because of developmental disorder/delay and to render necessary medical, psychological, psychiatric, neurologic screening and consultation services.


2. To form up health files (archive system) within the structure of SEF.


3. To give guidance to individuals by cooperating with the relevant institutions for further examination.


4. To carry out the guidance and follow up of the laboratory tests.


5. To render the treatment of the medical problems seen following the medical screening.


6. To render physiotherapy and rehabilitation services.


7. To render the services of eye, teeth screening and vaccination through the campaigns conducted during the year. 


8. To render in- service training and education to the staff for urgent cases.


9. To render consultancy to families and educators on medical subjects.


10. To attend   various domestic or overseas seminars and give presentations thereat.


11. To render services regarding early diagnosis, its encouragement and carry out studies of institutionalization in this regard.
