The festivities of Atatürk Remembrance, Youth and sports, are being celebrated together with Turkey in TRNC as well.

Celebrating the festivities of Atatürk remembrance, youth and sports have been initiated by Mr. Derviş Eroğlu, TRNC President and Mr. Nazım Çavuşoğlu, Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports, who celebrated the festivities of the schools and people. In the ceremony that continued after standing in silence and then singing the National anthem, the call of long live was called for the Turkish nation and a symbolic soil obtained from the Atatürk’s Monumental Tomb  was given by Mr. Şakir Fakılı, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the President Derviş Eroğlu. Following a speech given by a student from Fine Arts Lyceum of Nicosia and then a poem read by another student from the same school, the Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports Mr. Nazım Çavuşoğlu gave his speech. Mr. Çasvuşoğlu, the Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports said: “ I sincerely celebrate your festivity that we have been celebrating as Atatürk’s Remembrance, Youth and Sports day, a great and meaningful day, which the great-hearted Atatürk has left to you, the dearworth youth, as a present. In the near future, you will be able to authoritatively and knowledgably speak about the country’s administration and you will belaud the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on your shoulders. You are the ones who will carry on our beautiful country to the level of contemporary civilization that have always been referred to and guided by the great Leader Atatürk”. 

Following the parade, demonstrations were performed and the 19th May Marathon duly started.  On the occasion of the day and under the organization of the Department of Youth, SOS music group gave a concert last night at Dereboyu Avenue. The ceremonies of celebration are being executed in the large settlement places such as; Morphou (Guzelyurt), Lefka, Kyrenia, Famagusta and Iskele.
